Kite surfing: Shoal Bay, NZ Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: around 20mph+? Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered: 10? (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Strange location, you launch almost blind from the wind, having to walk out
to get the full force of it. Tricky for an ARC self launch too, needs to
be about 50 minutes after high tide I think for it to work OK, then you
don't get a long session (maybe another 90 minutes)
Long runs for me out into Auckland Harbour(ish), much better than I have
ever done in the UK, and stayed upwind for quite a long time. Really
pleased with how I got on.
Wind dropped off after a while and I ended up a bit downwind and had to
walk back
GPS battery went flat, must have done over 10 miles?
p.s. recommend reef shoes because of all the shells
